On 5th December, 2013 the Head of Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations Grygorii Kaletnik, took part in V International Conference "Agribusiness in Ukraine: Perspectives for 2014"
This conference was organized by Association “Ukrainian club of agrarian business” and agency «AgriEvent» under the assistance of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Land Relations of Ukraine.
The event gathered the representatives of leading agricultural enterprises and agricultural holdings, representatives of government agencies, educational and research institutions. In particular, the Advisor of the President of Ukraine on issues of agro-industrial complex of Ukraine Slauta V.A., Assistant of the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Sen O.V., President of the Association "Ukrainian Agribusiness Club" Alex Lissitsa, Advisor of the Board "Credit Agricole Bank" Jean - Jacques Herve, Head of the "German- Ukrainian Agro dialog" F. Zasse, Professor of the Agricultural and Applied Economics University of Missouri - William Myers and others.
Grygorii Kaletnik noticed that the perspective of conducting of agrarian business in Ukraine for 2014 and for future is a very important issue today. In recent years, Ukraine has established itself as a major player in the global food market. This is confirmed by the increase in domestic agricultural exports: in 2012 Ukraine supplied on international markets agricultural products for 18.2 billion dollars, that is for 40% more than in 2011. This year, the export revenues will increase to 22 billion dollars.
Further development of agribusiness requires qualitative transformations, capable to improve the competitiveness of agricultural production and food security of our country. Realizing of this task is related with the definition of the strategic objectives of agricultural development, according to which will be implemented state policy in the legal, financial and economic regulation of the industry.
Chairman of the Committee noted that, according to expert estimations published by the World Bank on general business conditions in 189 countries a positive sign for Ukraine becomes rising in 28 positions, that is 112 position in this ranking. For a year for 61 ranking points improved conditions for registration of property rights, for 11 - access to credit, for 4 – taxation system, for 3 - registration of new enterprises.
According to the words of Grygorii Kaletnik today the Committee on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations focuses more on compliance with the law in the field of agriculture and land relations. This was provoked by a situation when adopting new set of laws aimed at reducing corruption and the number of licenses lead to even greater improvement of corruption schemes. So today we need to pass laws that do not simply prescribe rules of direct action, but also develop mechanisms of warning.
He also informed the participants of the international conference that on his initiative there will be implemented draft bills which are going to improve the conditions of functioning of all the participants of agrarian sector of Ukraine.
