On 19th November, Grygorii Kaletnik took part in a roundtable on the item "The agricultural sector of Ukraine on the way to European integration". This meeting was held in the Parliament of Ukraine, it was headed by the People's Deputy of Ukraine, co-chair of MAO "European choice" Anatolyi Kinah.

The meeting also attended the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhniuk, the Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tadeusz Tombinskyi, the Director General of the European Commission on issues of Agriculture and Rural Development Jerzy Bogdan Plieva, the reporter of the European Parliament on the economic part of the Association Agreement - a free trade area between Ukraine and the EU, Paul Zalewski and others.

Grygorii Kaletnik said: "We are responsible enough to the step which Ukraine has to make - move towards the association with the European Union that would provide Ukraine to a rightful place in the European arena as an associate member, followed by the prospect of an equal membership. However, this step is a very serious risk for agriculture in our country. "

From the date of Ukraine's accession to the WTO passed 5 years. In the domestic market there is a negative tendency of increasing  in the part of imported products, and reducing of the part of domestic products. In comparison, for 2008 this proportion was 72% of our products and 28% imported, but today only 54% of Ukrainian products and imported 46%, especially in the group of consumer goods and food.

Grygorii Kaletnik said that the conditions were rough for Ukrainian producers of milk and meat. Exports of dairy products decreased over the 5 years for a half and milk powder exports decreased in 2 times.

According to the agreement of the WTO, Ukraine has committed not to stimulate export of its agricultural products, while the EU has a budget of such support 46 billion euro.

At the end Grygorii Kaletnik noted that there is a need to conduct active work together for the creation of favorable market conditions equal for the agricultural sector of Ukraine in the framework of future association between Ukraine and the European Union.
